What a week! Was it a busy one for your family too? My son started soccer this week and practice is right smack during dinner hour. How do you handle dinner when kid’s activities fall at the usual meal time?
We celerated April Fool’s Day around here with a few tricks. The best was dinner: French Toast French Fries and Strawberry preserves ketchup. I thought they’d recognize them as french toast but they didn’t. My daughter said, “they don’t taste like french fries, and I don’t know what they are, but I like them!”.
But the biggest celebration around here was my daughter’s 5th birthday this weekend. I’m still organizing the hundreds of pictures we took and will share a few from our Fancy Nancy Tea Party soon. It was so special and wonderful – and she loved every minute of it!
Some big news from last week was that the FDA decided that food dyes don’t negatively impact a statistically significant amount of children to be harmful and, therefore, will not require food manufacturers to remove them or add additional language on their packaging to warn parents. This is a big blow to every parent who’s child reacts to food dyes. The good news is that many of us who are passionate about this are organzing and planning other ways to achieve the goal of getting food dyes out of our food. More to come on this soon!
At the Feed Our Families Facebook page many of you shared some of your favorite ways to cook fish at home for your family. I’m excited to say that fish is on our meal plan this week – right after soccer practice Friday night!
What are you most looking forward to this week? Whatever it is, have a great one!
