Have you been grilling and enjoying meals outdoors like us? We’ve not had the greatest weather this summer, but it hasn’t kept us indoors (too much). Just this weekend we had friends over and grilled up hamburgers and hot dogs, served with our favorite potato salad. It’s dangerous to have leftover potato salad around here so, thankfully, the kids love it and almost finished it off at lunch.
Top Post
It always makes me happy to see our Homemade Macaroni and Cheese recipe as the most popular blog post of the week because it means that more families are skipping the box – and it was on the top again this past week. I made some earlier this week for my daughter, since it’s her favorite (mine too!) and she had a special day. What’s your child’s favorite meal?
Hooray for Berries
Did you know that it’s National Blueberry Month? We don’t need an excuse to gobble them up in our house. Our season is late this year but the kids are all ready to go pick our own flat (or two) of them at a local farm. Besides just popping them like candy, our two favorite ways to enjoy blueberries are in a crumble or smoothie.
A Less Nutty Nutela
Do your kids like Nutella? I hear from a lot of friends that their kids love it but there’s too much sugar to start the day with it, and many schools have a no-nut policy for lunch. What’s a mama to do? Make your own! Control the sugar, use better ingredients, and don’t use nuts if you don’t want to. Here’s a fabulous recipe from my friend Jennie using sunflower seeds. Use dark chocolate like we do, and have yourself a dairy free version.
Have a great week, everyone!
