Remember ice cream socials from when you were a kid? Growing up, my elementary school held one the last week of school each spring and it was something everyone looked forward to with great anticipation. Sure, the ice cream was a fun treat and there were usually toppings, cones and chocolate sauce to make them even better. Just reflecting back brings back some great memories.
The best part, though, was really what it meant to have the ice cream social: it marked the arrival of summer. And that alone was reason to celebrate.
Well, get your favorite summer party dress ready because there’s an ice cream social this weekend! Yes, ten West Elm stores will be sharing the warm weather love with a cool treat for folks that come down this Saturday, August 4th from 1p to 3p. They’ve partnered with local dessert carts and trucks who’ll be serving up sweet goodness.
Here in Portland Saturday is forecasted to be our hottest day of the year so I really can’t think of a sweeter way to cool down. They’ll have local ice cream cart Scoop sharing their best flavors. We haven’t tried Scoop so I’m looking forward to this fun way to sample their sweets (and secretly hope they bring Salted Caramel Stracciatella).
Oh heck…let’s be real, who needs a reason to celebrate a warm summer day with ice cream? Get down to a West Elm near you this weekend and celebrate summer with ice cream!
