The very night I watched this local news story on (one of many) dangers of sports drinks and sodas for kids, I heard from teacher friends that some of these brands are on a road tour visiting schools. Their message to kids is about hydrating for sports and outdoor activities, which is an important message for people of all ages.
But are sport drinks, sodas and sugary fruit drinks the best hydration for our young athletes? You probably already know about the sugar content in these drinks, but now experts have another concern: our kids’ teeth. And the problem is irreversible.

I have to say how incredibly happy I was to receive a note from my son’s new soccer coach with his “team rules”: We can all bring our own snacks, but if someone wants to coordinate…needs to be fruit only (cut up apples, oranges or grapes). The kids already have water and that’s the very best hydration! Thanks Coach!
