How often do we have Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day in the same week? What a fun food week ahead! Do you have any traditions around either of these holidays?

We really don’t have many traditions, though I absolutely love my grandparents’ southern gumbo and don’t have enough opportunities to make it. With a basketball tournament on Fat Tuesday, it won’t happen that night so it may have to wait until the weekend. We’ll also have our Valentine’s celebration over the weekend thanks to kid’s sports activities.

You’d think they could maybe skip that night? Maybe give kids and parents Valentines evening off? Nope! That’s ok though. My kids are pretty flexible. And they still got to pick out dinner: macaroni and cheese.

What fun plans do you have this week?

Monday – Sauce from the freezer over pasta

Tuesday – Slow cooker white bean chicken chili

Wednesday – Slow cooker vegetarian chili with sweet potatoes

Thursday – Homemade macaroni and cheese as requested by the kiddos

Friday – Creamy avocado linguine

Our homemade mac and cheese is just as fast as the blue box, but better tasting and made with only real food
