This past week I had the opportunity to attend a conference in Palm Springs which brought a few days of warm sunshine into my winter. I have to admit that the sun felt so glorious, warming my body.
What might have been even better was that the conference provided a lot of surprising food for thought. The best sessions that I attended focused on our experiences and connections, many of which referenced the online relationships we make and develop that, temporary or not, make a difference in our lives. As I reflected on my own world-wide-web experiences I wouldn’t know where to start counting the ways that technology has impacted my life in important ways. Many of the relationships that were initiated online have proven to be some of the most meaningful friendships today and I consider myself so blessed and fortunate to have these smart, generous and thoughtful people in my life.
Of course, I couldn’t help but reflect on Feed Our Families and all that I want to achieve to help families and children eat more healthfully. None of this would have happened if I didn’t have this community and others to support me and the message. It’s sometimes overwhelming to think about the difference we can truly make, and are making, just by coming together and putting a voice to our beliefs and wants.
On the flight home, I had a few minutes on the airplane before I could turn on my laptop where I could just think about the week, all the lessons learned and all that I had to be thankful for. The very first article I read when I heard the ding that announced a safe altitude for electronic devices, was this: All the small things. I hope you can find a few minutes to read it and reflect too.
In the meantime, here’s a few meal ideas for the week ahead:
Monday - Winter minestrone
Tuesday - Big batch of chicken fried rice with lots of leftovers for lunch
Wednesday – Creamy avocado pasta
Thursday – Meatloaf with roasted root vegetables
Friday – Pizza night (kids request, as usual!)
Have an amazing week!
